Every listing on Local Skilled Trades goes through a manual review before it appears in search results. Here is exactly what happens, from account creation to earning the Verified badge.
Step By Step
Follow these four steps to get listed and earn your Verified badge.
After creating an account, a verification link is sent to your email address. Click the link to confirm your address before you can create a listing. Links expire after 24 hours. You can request a new one from the verification page at any time.
Complete your business profile: name, trade category, service areas, contact details, business description, and photos. Your listing is submitted for admin review and will not appear in search results until it is approved.
New listings are typically reviewed within 1 business day.
From your dashboard, upload your provincial trade licence and a current certificate of general liability insurance. Both documents must be valid and clearly show your business name. Accepted formats: PDF, JPG, PNG.
Once our team has reviewed and approved your documents, a gold Verified badge is added to your listing. This badge is visible on your profile and on every search result card, giving homeowners confidence that your credentials are legitimate.
Credentials are re-reviewed annually to keep the badge active.
Document Review
Every Verified badge is issued by a real person on the team, not an algorithm.
A valid licence issued by the relevant provincial or territorial authority confirming you are authorised to perform trade work in your jurisdiction.
A current certificate of insurance showing general liability coverage. The document must display your business name and a valid policy period.
Our team manually checks that the business name, trade category, and service areas listed match the documents provided before approving any new listing.
When you see the Verified badge on a listing, it means a member of the Local Skilled Trades team has manually reviewed and confirmed:
Not a guarantee of workmanship
The Verified badge confirms credentials only. Always read reviews, request a written quote, and verify the work scope before hiring any contractor.
Annual re-verification
Credentials are re-checked every year. If a tradesperson's licence lapses or insurance expires, the badge is removed until updated documents are provided.
